It\u2019s clear as day: the New York Yankees badly need help at third base. Right now, they\u2019re relying on Oswald Peraza and Jorbit Vivas, two players who are both hitting below .150. That kind of performance just won\u2019t cut it for a team with playoff hopes, and it would be shocking if they\u2019re still getting regular playing time a month from now.<\/p>\n

The problem is, the Yankees aren\u2019t the only team looking to fill that position. Other contenders like the Cubs, Brewers, and Tigers are also in the market for a third baseman. And at this point, it\u2019s hard to say which players might actually be available for trade.<\/p>\n

Still, there\u2019s some buzz around a potential target. On the \u201cTalkin\u2019 Baseball\u201d podcast, baseball analyst Jack Oliver (known as \u201cJolly Olive\u201d) predicted the Yankees might go after Yoan Moncada, who currently plays for the Los Angeles Angels.<\/p>\n

Moncada has had a solid season when healthy. He\u2019s a switch-hitter with a strong .805 OPS and seven home runs in just 36 games. He recently came back from an injury right before the All-Star break, so there\u2019s some risk involved, but when he\u2019s on the field, he\u2019s been productive.<\/p>\n

Oliver thinks Moncada would be a good fit in New York and believes the Yankees could make the deal without giving up their top prospects like Spencer Jones. But there\u2019s one big question mark: the Angels. It\u2019s never really clear if they\u2019re going to be buyers or sellers, and that could affect whether Moncada is even on the table.<\/p>\n

Moncada might not be the flashy superstar that fans are dreaming of, but he\u2019d be a major upgrade over what the Yankees have right now.
