Ryan Reynolds is known for thinking outside the box, and his latest idea proves it once again. While speaking on The Box Office<\/em> podcast, the Deadpool & Wolverine<\/em> star opened up about a unique pitch he made to Disney: an R-rated Star Wars project<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Reynolds revealed that he suggested the idea directly to Disney, saying, \u201cWhy don\u2019t we do an R-rated Star Wars property?\u201d<\/em> But before fans jump to conclusions, he made it clear that he wasn\u2019t talking about something vulgar or inappropriate. Instead, he sees an R-rating as a creative tool \u2014 \u201ca Trojan horse for emotion,\u201d<\/em> as he put it. He believes such a project wouldn\u2019t even need iconic lead characters. According to him, \u201cThey have a huge range of characters to use,\u201d<\/em> many of whom are underexplored.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s interesting is that Ryan doesn\u2019t want to star<\/strong> in the project himself. He believes he wouldn\u2019t be the right fit on-screen for such a venture. However, he would love to be involved behind the scenes<\/strong> \u2014 as a writer or producer<\/strong>. He explained, \u201cI\u2019d want to produce and write or be a part of behind the scenes.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Reynolds also reflected on the Star Wars franchise and how its constant presence on Disney+ might make surprise harder to achieve. \u201cWe don\u2019t get scarcity really with Star Wars because of Disney+, but you can certainly still surprise people,\u201d<\/em> he said, suggesting that the key to reigniting fan excitement lies in doing something unexpected and fresh.<\/p>\n

For those who don\u2019t know, Reynolds already has a successful history with Disney and Marvel through his work on Deadpool & Wolverine<\/em>, which he co-wrote and produced \u2014 a film that preserved its R-rated tone even under the Disney umbrella.<\/p>\n

In addition to his Star Wars idea, The Hollywood Reporter<\/em> shared that Reynolds is also toying with a future Deadpool project<\/strong> that would feature three or four X-Men characters<\/strong>, with his Deadpool playing a smaller, possibly supporting role.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, this creative momentum comes during a turbulent time in Reynolds\u2019 personal life. His wife, Blake Lively, is currently involved in a legal battle with actor Justin Baldoni, her co-star from It Ends With Us<\/em>. According to reports, Lively filed a lawsuit alleging sexual harassment, and Baldoni responded by countersuing<\/strong> both Lively and Reynolds for defamation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
