The Gilmore Girls<\/em> alum, who played Emily Malek (formerly known as Ofglen) from 2017 to 2021, recently shared with The Hollywood Reporter<\/em> that the emotional weight of the role became too much to carry.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was deeply upsetting to even imagine Emily going through something like that, being captured, powerless, with no say over her body,\u201d Bledel said, adding that she stepped away after much reflection. \u201cI felt I had to step away from The Handmaid\u2019s Tale at this time<\/em>,\u201d she previously told E!
