When Netflix<\/a> released the live-action version of Avatar: The Last Airbender<\/em><\/a> in February 2024, it quickly became one of the most-watched shows on the platform. In just 11 days, over 41 million people tuned in to watch it, showing just how popular the remake of the original Nickelodeon cartoon still is. The strong response from viewers led Netflix to announce that the show will be returning, not just for a second season, but also a third.<\/p>\n

The series stars Gordon Cormier as Aang, the main character who can control all four elements: air, water, earth, and fire. He\u2019s joined by Kiawentiio as Katara, Ian Ousley as Sokka, and Dallas Liu as Zuko. The show also introduces important characters like Fire Lord Ozai, played by Daniel Dae Kim, and Azula, played by Elizabeth Yu, earlier than in the animated version.<\/p>\n

The story, just like in the original series, follows Aang, a young Avatar who carries the heavy responsibility of saving the world from the Fire Nation\u2019s war and destruction. However, Aang was frozen in an iceberg for 100 years and missed the start of the war. Now that he\u2019s back, he has to learn to master all the elements while coming to terms with everything that has changed in the world.<\/p>\n
