Anthony Richardson\u2019s latest injury could mean he\u2019s running out of chances with the Indianapolis Colts.<\/p>\n

During recent team practices (called OTAs), Richardson and Daniel Jones were sharing time equally as quarterbacks. But then, out of nowhere, Richardson was ruled out for the rest of the offseason with another shoulder issue.<\/p>\n

This injury might be the last straw for the Colts. According to ESPN\u2019s Kevin Clark, there\u2019s a real chance that Richardson won\u2019t even be on the team next season. Clark said on NFL Live<\/em>, \u201cYou don\u2019t pay a guy like Daniel Jones $14 million unless he\u2019s seriously being considered as a starter.\u201d In the NFL, money usually tells you who\u2019s being trusted with the job.<\/p>\n

Clark also pointed out that Richardson has barely played compared to other top-10 draft picks. Over two years, Richardson has only thrown the ball 348 times in NFL games. That\u2019s the second-lowest number<\/strong> of any top-10 quarterback pick in the last 20 years. Only Trey Lance threw less, and even players like Jake Locker (who didn\u2019t last long in the league) threw more.<\/p>\n

That puts Richardson in a troubling category, guys who were drafted high but never got going in the NFL. He hasn\u2019t had much time on the field, and when he has, things haven\u2019t gone well. In the 2024 season, for example, he only completed 47.7% of his passes, a really low number for an NFL starter.<\/p>\n

Kevin Clark even joked that Richardson seems like he\u2019s \u201cdestined\u201d to end up competing for a job with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2026.<\/p>\n

And honestly, that might not be so far off.<\/p>\n

Right now, the Steelers are counting on 41-year-old Aaron Rodgers to get them through the season. But Rodgers clearly isn\u2019t a long-term answer, and by the time next offseason comes around, Pittsburgh will still be looking for a future quarterback. Richardson could be a cheap, high-upside option for them.<\/p>\n

If the Colts decide to move on, they\u2019d probably want a draft pick or two in return, since Richardson was once a high pick with big potential. But unless he can stay healthy and start playing better, it\u2019s hard to see him keeping his spot in Indianapolis.<\/p>\n

Anthony Richardson has to get on the field and prove himself in 2025. If he doesn\u2019t, it\u2019s very likely the Colts will move on, and his next stop might be in Pittsburgh.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n
