Alisson Becker, Liverpool\u2019s top goalkeeper, has made it clear that he\u2019s not at all worried about his position at the club, even though another talented goalkeeper has just been signed.<\/p>\n

The Brazilian star had a tough time during the 2024\/25 season because of injuries. Out of the 38 Premier League games that Liverpool played, he only appeared in 28 of them. But when he was fit, he played a big role in helping Liverpool win the league. This was especially impressive because it was the first season under the new manager, Arne Slot.<\/p>\n

Even though some changes are happening in Liverpool\u2019s goalkeeping team, manager Arne Slot still sees Alisson as his number one choice. Alisson is now 32 years old and very experienced. He has been a key part of Liverpool\u2019s success for many years.<\/p>\n

However, there is a shake-up happening behind the scenes. Caoimhin Kelleher, who used to be Alisson\u2019s backup, has left the club. He moved to Brentford because he was frustrated with sitting on the bench and not getting enough chances to play. Brentford\u2019s manager, Thomas Frank, acted fast to bring him in as their new first-choice goalkeeper.<\/p>\n

To replace Kelleher, Liverpool brought in Giorgi Mamardashvili, a 24-year-old goalkeeper from Georgia who used to play for Valencia in Spain. He had been their main goalkeeper and was very reliable for them, even though the team was struggling near the bottom of the La Liga table.<\/p>\n

Some people think Mamardashvili will challenge Alisson for the starting spot. After all, he\u2019s young, talented, and used to being the first choice. But Alisson doesn\u2019t seem too bothered. He has shown in the past that he performs under pressure, and he believes his experience and skills will keep him as the club\u2019s top pick.<\/p>\n

Last year, Alisson received offers from Saudi Arabian clubs who were ready to pay big money for him. But he turned them down because he wanted to stay at Liverpool. His current contract runs until 2026, and the club has the option to extend it for one more year after that. Right now, he is valued at around \u00a320 million (about $28 million).<\/p>\n

Speaking at a press conference before Brazil\u2019s World Cup qualifier against Peru, Alisson said, \u201cI\u2019ve never been the kind of person who plans things way ahead. But I still have a year left on my contract, and there\u2019s another year the club can add. I think they probably will.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for Mamardashvili, while he was solid at Valencia, making 89 saves and getting eight clean sheets in 34 games, he wasn\u2019t perfect. In comparison, Alisson had nine clean sheets and made 73 saves, but from fewer games.<\/p>\n

At Liverpool, Mamardashvili is expected to take on a backup role like Kelleher did. He\u2019ll probably play in domestic cup games like the FA Cup and Carabao Cup, and possibly in some Champions League matches too, especially when the schedule is packed and Alisson needs a rest.<\/p>\n

Still, it will be important for manager Arne Slot to keep both goalkeepers happy. Mamardashvili isn\u2019t used to being on the bench, and Liverpool won\u2019t want to repeat the same situation that led to Kelleher leaving.<\/p>\n
