When Jamie Lee Curtis was just 25 years old, she went through plastic surgery because of something pretty tough that happened on a movie set. During the filming of the 1985 movie Perfect<\/em>, the cinematographer flat-out refused to film her because of her eye bags. Imagine that\u2014someone telling you they won\u2019t shoot you because of how you look! For Jamie, this was super embarrassing, especially since she was surrounded by the cast and crew at the time.<\/p>\n

She opened up about this moment in a recent interview, saying the cameraman told the director, \u201cI\u2019m not shooting her today because her eyes are baggy.\u201d That kind of blunt comment really shook her. Feeling self-conscious and wanting to fix what had been called out so publicly, Jamie decided to get plastic surgery right after the movie wrapped.<\/p>\n

But the surgery didn\u2019t go as planned. Right after leaving the clinic, she already regretted it. What\u2019s more, the painkillers she was given to manage the surgery pain ended up causing bigger problems. Jamie found herself quietly slipping into a dependency on opioids. She described it as being drawn to the \u201cwarm bath\u201d feeling they gave her. It was a private struggle\u2014she didn\u2019t talk about it much, but it became a real challenge.<\/p>\n

Years later, Jamie Lee Curtis has become a powerful voice for loving yourself just as you are. She encourages women everywhere to embrace their natural looks instead of feeling pressured to change.<\/p>\n

She also openly shares her story about overcoming addiction. Back in February, she marked 26 years of sobriety with a heartfelt social media post, saying how much her life has changed since attending her first recovery meeting. Jamie battled opioid addiction for about ten years, a difficult journey that started with those painkillers prescribed after her eye surgery.
