The actor is returning to the Marvel universe in a surprise twist: he\u2019s playing <strong data-start=\"365\" data-end=\"380\">Doctor Doom<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"383\" data-end=\"655\">He recently shared a behind-the-scenes photo on Instagram, sitting outside his trailer and flexing while holding Jeremy Renner\u2019s memoir, <em data-start=\"520\" data-end=\"536\">My Next Breath<\/em>. The trailer behind him had a poster of comic book Doctor Doom and a sign that read, <em data-start=\"622\" data-end=\"655\">\u201cDo not knock. Trust yourself.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"657\" data-end=\"688\">In the caption, Downey wrote:<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"689\" data-end=\"801\">\n<p data-start=\"691\" data-end=\"801\">\u201cReading Renner\u2019s book and feeling stronger already\u2026 What a journey to wisdom\u2026 very instructive\u2026 a must read!\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p data-start=\"803\" data-end=\"837\"><strong data-start=\"803\" data-end=\"837\">Renner Responds with Gratitude<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"839\" data-end=\"919\">Jeremy Renner, who played Hawkeye in the Avengers movies, commented on the post:<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"920\" data-end=\"1005\">\n<p data-start=\"922\" data-end=\"1005\">\u201cLong way from the ICU\u2026 At least we know how this story ends my brother. Love you.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p data-start=\"1007\" data-end=\"1195\">He was referring to his near-fatal snowplow accident in January 2023, which left him in critical condition. Renner\u2019s book talks about his recovery and emotional journey after the accident.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1197\" data-end=\"1235\"><strong data-start=\"1197\" data-end=\"1235\">Renner Says No to Hawkeye Season 2<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1237\" data-end=\"1425\">Although Renner remains a fan favorite, his future in the MCU is uncertain. He recently revealed that he declined an offer to return for <em data-start=\"1374\" data-end=\"1383\">Hawkeye<\/em> Season 2\u2014because the pay was cut in half.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1427\" data-end=\"1479\">On the <em data-start=\"1434\" data-end=\"1452\">High Performance<\/em> podcast, Renner explained:<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"1480\" data-end=\"1599\">\n<p data-start=\"1482\" data-end=\"1599\">\u201cThey offered me half the money. I\u2019m like, \u2018It\u2019ll take twice the work for half the pay and eight months of my life.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p data-start=\"1601\" data-end=\"1927\">He hinted that the reduced offer might have been because of his accident\u2014saying he felt like they saw him as \u201conly half the Jeremy\u201d he used to be. He also clarified that it wasn\u2019t Marvel or Disney making the decision, but likely studio accountants.
