Suits was a hugely popular show loved by fans around the world. When news broke that some original characters, like Harvey Specter and Louis Litt, would return in the spin-off Suits LA<\/em>, fans were really excited.<\/p>\n

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter<\/em>\u2014which happened before Suits LA<\/em> got canceled\u2014Rick Hoffman, who played Louis Litt, opened up about how hard it was to say goodbye to his iconic role.<\/p>\n

When asked how the show\u2019s creator, Aaron Korsh, pitched Hoffman\u2019s guest spot on the spin-off, and whether they had talked about bringing back his character before Suits LA<\/em> was developed, Hoffman explained that back in 2019, as Suits<\/em> was wrapping up, he and Korsh often discussed working together again. They tossed around different ideas during the pandemic, but those ideas weren\u2019t necessarily about Suits<\/em> or Louis Litt\u2014they were more general.<\/p>\n

Hoffman said, \u201cIt\u2019s hard to say goodbye to a character like that. Playing Louis was life-changing for me, and Suits<\/em> was Aaron\u2019s baby. Naturally, you think, \u2018What if?\u2019 but nothing concrete was ever planned.\u201d<\/p>\n

He went on to say that when the writers\u2019 strike happened, he was actually the last person to find out about the Suits LA<\/em> revival\u2014not because he\u2019s \u201cantisocial,\u201d but because he wasn\u2019t really checking if people were still watching Suits<\/em> years after it ended.<\/p>\n

Then, out of the blue, Hoffman started getting calls from old high school friends he hadn\u2019t heard from in ages. Meanwhile, his daily conversations with Korsh suddenly stopped, and he wasn\u2019t sure why.<\/p>\n

Later, he saw the official Suits LA<\/em> announcement \u201cout of nowhere\u201d in entertainment news. He described the whole experience as like stepping into an \u201calternate universe\u201d and said he was really excited, thinking, \u201cYou gotta be kidding me!\u201d<\/p>\n

Although Hoffman didn\u2019t know what the future held, he was surprised when Korsh reached out early in Suits LA<\/em>\u2019s first season. He guessed Korsh was probably thinking about which original characters would fit well in the new show.<\/p>\n

When Hoffman got that call, he was naturally thrilled and eager to say yes. He said they\u2019d always talked about working together again on something \u201cLouis-y,\u201d but never knew how.
