Taylor Swift has unexpectedly been drawn into a legal dispute between actress Blake Lively and actor-director Justin Baldoni over the film adaptation of It Ends With Us<\/em>. Although she is not being sued herself, Swift has been issued a subpoena to provide information, raising questions about her actual involvement in the project.<\/p>\n

According to Swift\u2019s representatives, her connection to the movie was minimal and purely professional. They clarified that her only contribution was licensing her song My Tears Ricochet<\/em> for the film\u2019s soundtrack \u2014 something 19 other artists also did. Swift\u2019s team strongly denied any claims that she had influence over the film\u2019s creative direction, casting choices, or post-production process.<\/p>\n

\u201cTaylor never set foot on the set,\u201d a spokesperson for Swift told Variety<\/em>. \u201cShe didn\u2019t help cast the film, didn\u2019t review the script, never watched early versions, and didn\u2019t make any creative suggestions.\u201d In fact, due to her busy touring schedule throughout 2023 and 2024, Swift reportedly didn\u2019t watch the final version of the movie until weeks after it had already premiered.<\/p>\n

Still, her name has become part of the case because of claims that she may be the unnamed \u201cclose friend\u201d referred to by Blake Lively in legal documents. This vague reference, combined with an accusation from Baldoni that Swift pressured him to accept script changes, has led to her being formally included in the court process \u2014 not as a defendant, but as someone who may hold relevant information.<\/p>\n

Swift\u2019s team dismissed the subpoena as a publicity stunt. They argued that her name is being used to draw public attention to the case, rather than to serve any real legal purpose. \u201cThis is about creating tabloid headlines and clickbait,\u201d said her spokesperson, \u201cnot about uncovering facts that matter to the case.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, another layer of the story emerged when actress Isabela Ferrer, who appears in the film, claimed that Swift was responsible for helping her land the role. However, this statement has not been confirmed by Swift or her team.<\/p>\n

The entire controversy began in December 2024, when Lively accused Baldoni of sexual harassment. Since then, the situation has escalated, with multiple lawsuits filed back and forth.
