It\u2019s been over a decade, but the emotional scars still linger. And now, on the <em data-start=\"362\" data-end=\"373\">Therapuss<\/em> podcast episode aired on <strong data-start=\"399\" data-end=\"408\">May 8<\/strong>, Lea shared what those dark days were really like for her behind the scenes.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"487\" data-end=\"889\">Back in 2013, Michele was just <strong data-start=\"518\" data-end=\"534\">26 years old<\/strong>, living in West Hollywood. At the time, she couldn\u2019t even find peace at home. Tour buses would drive past her house, announcing her name and playing <strong data-start=\"684\" data-end=\"713\">\u201cDon\u2019t Rain on My Parade\u201d<\/strong>\u2014one of her iconic performances as Rachel Berry on <em data-start=\"764\" data-end=\"770\">Glee<\/em>. \u201cIt was eerie,\u201d she said. \u201cThey would still play the song and point me out. Meanwhile, I was just trying to survive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"891\" data-end=\"1374\"><strong data-start=\"891\" data-end=\"933\">Cory Monteith passed away in July 2013<\/strong> from a heroin and alcohol overdose. He was only <strong data-start=\"982\" data-end=\"988\">31<\/strong>. His death shook the entire <em data-start=\"1017\" data-end=\"1023\">Glee<\/em> cast and crew\u2014but for Lea, it was personal. The show, however, had to go on. \u201cIt was so depressing,\u201d she confessed. \u201cBut if we didn\u2019t show up to work, no one else could either.\u201d She had to put her pain on pause just to keep the production moving. There was no guidebook on how to grieve someone you love while also performing for millions of viewers.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1376\" data-end=\"1713\">She admitted that the tragedy left a mark on her professional relationships too. \u201cI think it fractured so much,\u201d she shared. \u201cI can\u2019t speak for everyone, but for me, it was really hard.\u201d She threw herself into her work because it was the only thing she could control. \u201cI was in <strong data-start=\"1654\" data-end=\"1671\">survival mode<\/strong>\u2014just doing my job, keeping my head down.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1715\" data-end=\"1987\">But even in the darkest times, <strong data-start=\"1746\" data-end=\"1777\">Lea wasn\u2019t completely alone<\/strong>. The <em data-start=\"1783\" data-end=\"1789\">Glee<\/em> crew stood by her. \u201cThey helped me get through,\u201d she said with gratitude. \u201cI\u2019d look behind the camera, and they were just holding me up.\u201d Those small, silent acts of support made a huge difference.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1989\" data-end=\"2250\">Today, at <strong data-start=\"1999\" data-end=\"2015\">38 years old<\/strong>, Lea has come a long way. She\u2019s married to <strong data-start=\"2059\" data-end=\"2074\">Zandy Reich<\/strong> and is a mother of two. While life has moved forward, <strong data-start=\"2129\" data-end=\"2173\">Cory Monteith\u2019s memory is still with her<\/strong>.
