The performance marked the 20th anniversary since the song first took the world by storm. Shakira dazzled in a fiery red dress as she flawlessly recreated her signature dance moves, while Wyclef rocked a classic white hat.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"436\" data-end=\"809\">The duo performed in a sand-covered arena, accompanied by live musicians and energetic backup dancers, bringing fresh life to the global smash. Originally released as the lead single on the reissue of Shakira\u2019s <em data-start=\"647\" data-end=\"670\">Oral Fixation, Vol. 2<\/em>, the track soared to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 on June 17, 2006, and topped charts in more than 18 countries, according to Billboard.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"811\" data-end=\"1152\">Fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to share their excitement, calling the song a \u201cglobal anthem.\u201d One user praised, \u201c20 years later and it\u2019s still a global anthem! Shakira and Wyclef brought the heat back like it never left!\u201d Another added, \u201cShakira and Wyclef still got that fire. 20 years later and <em data-start=\"1111\" data-end=\"1127\">Hips Don\u2019t Lie<\/em> feels as fresh as ever.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1154\" data-end=\"1553\">Back in 2014, Shakira shared the inspiration behind the song in an interview with <em data-start=\"1236\" data-end=\"1252\">Women\u2019s Health<\/em>. \u201cWhen I\u2019m in the studio, I know when a song is ready and it can be taken out of the oven, and it\u2019s exactly when my hips start moving,\u201d she explained. \u201cSo I used to say to my musicians, \u2018My hips don\u2019t lie! Are they moving? They\u2019re not moving! So this is not ready.\u2019 And that\u2019s how I came up with it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1555\" data-end=\"1788\">Interestingly, the track was originally titled <em data-start=\"1602\" data-end=\"1618\">Lips Don\u2019t Lie<\/em> and was meant for a Fugees reunion. But after the group split, the song was handed over to Shakira, who transformed it into the worldwide sensation we all know and love.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1790\" data-end=\"2095\">This performance comes on the heels of Shakira\u2019s appearance at the 2025 Met Gala and as she gears up for the North American leg of her <em data-start=\"1925\" data-end=\"1951\">Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran<\/em> World Tour, kicking off May 13 in Charlotte, North Carolina.
