Prince Harry recently opened up about a tough reality: his kids, Archie and Lilibet, might never actually get to visit the U.K., their dad\u2019s homeland. The reason? Ongoing security concerns that make it unsafe for his whole family to go there.<\/p>\n
This all came up after a court ruled in favor of the U.K. government\u2019s decision not<\/em> to give Harry automatic police protection while he\u2019s in the country. Harry said he really regrets not being able to bring Meghan and the kids back safely. In a May 2 interview with the BBC, he said, pretty plainly, that under the current circumstances, he just can\u2019t imagine bringing his wife and kids to the U.K. anytime soon.<\/p>\n Harry, who\u2019s 40 and served in the British Army for ten years, still loves his home country. He misses it \u2014 especially parts of it \u2014 and is committed to causes there that mean a lot to him. But the fact that his kids might grow up never experiencing the place where he grew up is really sad for him.<\/p>\n He shared, \u201cI miss the U.K., I miss parts of the U.K., of course I do. It\u2019s really quite sad that I won\u2019t be able to show my children my homeland.\u201d<\/p>\n After the court\u2019s ruling, Harry put out an official statement reminding everyone that the U.K. is a big part of who he is. He hopes to keep supporting important work there and dreams of the day he can take Archie and Lilibet to visit \u2014 safely.<\/p>\n Since stepping away from royal duties in 2020, Harry and Meghan have been living in Montecito, California. He\u2019s been back to the U.K. a few times, but those visits were short, heavily guarded, and without his family.<\/p>\n The court\u2019s decision on May 2 made it clear Harry won\u2019t get automatic security anymore; instead, each visit will be judged separately. That pretty much ends his hope of visiting the U.K. with Meghan and the kids without huge risks.<\/p>\n Despite all the drama and distance, Harry said he still wants to patch things up with the royal family.
