Avengers Doomsday<\/a>: <\/strong>Way before the massive Marvel<\/a> Cinematic Universe (MCU) became the global box office juggernaut it is today, but well after that quirky little movie, Howard the Duck<\/em>, there was the original X-Men movie trilogy. Released in the early to mid-2000s by 20th Century Fox, the X-Men<\/a> films were some of the first big-budget superhero movies that really took off. They made characters like Wolverine, played by a then-rising star Hugh Jackman, into fan favourites and household names.<\/p>\n

But what\u2019s a team of powerful mutants without a few unforgettable villains? The trilogy gave us a lineup of memorable baddies, including Ian McKellen\u2019s menacing yet oddly charming Magneto, Rebecca Romijn\u2019s mysterious and deadly Mystique, and Ray Park\u2019s agile, demonic-looking Toad, among others. These characters constantly clashed with the X-Men and gave the heroes a serious run for their money.<\/p>\n

Now, here\u2019s the exciting part: two of those legendary villains are making a comeback, and fans are hyped.<\/p>\n

During Marvel\u2019s official livestream on March 26, the studio dropped a bombshell announcement: \u201cAvengers: Doomsday,\u201d set to hit theatres on May 1, 2026, will feature not one, but two returning villains from the classic X-Men era.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s right, Sir Ian McKellen is stepping back into the role of Magneto, the powerful mutant who can control metal and always walks the line between villain and anti-hero. And joining him is Rebecca Romijn, once again transforming into the shape-shifting, blue-skinned Mystique.<\/p>\n

These returns mark a big moment for fans of the older X-Men films, not just for the nostalgia, but for how the Marvel multiverse is finally connecting all the old and new threads. With characters from past franchises now stepping into the MCU, Avengers: Doomsday<\/em> might be Marvel\u2019s boldest, most crossover-packed film yet.<\/p>\n
