Florence Pugh just proved she\u2019s not only a fierce presence on screen but also a total daredevil behind the scenes. The Thunderbolts<\/em> star recently revealed that she went to impressive lengths to convince Marvel Studios to let her perform one of the most dangerous stunts in the film<\/strong>\u2014a leap from the second tallest building in the world<\/strong>, Kuala Lumpur\u2019s Merdeka 118<\/strong> in Malaysia.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s right. Pugh, who plays Yelena Belova<\/strong> in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, didn\u2019t want a stunt double for this jaw-dropping moment. Instead, she fought to do it herself. And it wasn\u2019t easy.<\/p>\n

In a new interview with Fandango<\/strong>, she shared the behind-the-scenes struggle that unfolded. The leap was originally written into the Thunderbolts<\/em> script, but as filming got closer, Marvel executives started backing away from the idea due to insurance issues<\/strong>. And honestly, who can blame them? The building stands 2,722 feet tall<\/strong>\u2014just the thought of someone jumping off it, even with safety gear, is nerve-racking.<\/p>\n

But Pugh wasn\u2019t having it.<\/p>\n

\u201cI got on all the emails,\u201d she said. \u201cIt was in the script, and then slowly, as we got closer to shooting, they said it wasn\u2019t going to happen. Obviously, they weren\u2019t just going to toss me off the second tallest building in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n

Instead of letting it go, Pugh went full superhero mode behind the scenes\u2014emailing Marvel boss Kevin Feige directly<\/strong>, pushing for the stunt to be reinstated.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was being a sassy Karen emailing Kevin and saying it\u2019ll be great for the press tour,\u201d she joked. \u201cWe\u2019ll break Guinness World Records! We have<\/em> to do this!\u201d<\/p>\n

Eventually, Marvel caved<\/strong>, and Pugh got her wish. She performed the stunt herself, becoming one of the few Hollywood actors\u2014alongside names like Tom Cruise<\/strong>\u2014to take on such extreme, record-setting challenges without a double.<\/p>\n

As thrilling as it was, Pugh admitted the mental side of things was the toughest part. \u201cI don\u2019t mind heights. I actually enjoy them,\u201d she said. \u201cBut this was next-level. The mental control I needed that day? That was its own superpower.\u201d<\/p>\n
