The tweet, which was up only briefly, read: \u201cI\u2019ve had farts longer than that.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Even though it disappeared quickly, screenshots of the post began circulating online, and fans instantly began speculating. Was Gaga poking fun at Perry\u2019s spaceflight? Many thought so. One user summed up the mood with the comment, \u201cWhere\u2019s the lie in this tweet?\u201d<\/em> suggesting that while the joke was a bit harsh, it wasn\u2019t entirely inaccurate.<\/p>\n

To be clear, Lady Gaga hasn\u2019t confirmed<\/strong> whether she actually posted the message or if someone else may have been responsible, but that didn\u2019t stop the internet from having a field day.<\/p>\n

So what exactly happened with Katy Perry\u2019s flight?<\/p>\n

On Monday, April 14<\/strong>, Perry joined Jeff Bezos\u2019 Blue Origin<\/strong> team for a brief 10-minute trip to space<\/strong>. The mission also included CBS News anchor Gayle King<\/strong> and Lauren S\u00e1nchez<\/strong>, Bezos\u2019 fianc\u00e9e. The rocket traveled just beyond the K\u00e1rm\u00e1n line<\/strong>, which marks the edge of space, before returning safely to Texas.<\/p>\n

Online reactions were, unsurprisingly, all over the place. Some mocked how short the flight was, comparing it to a long elevator ride. Others criticized the environmental impact and questioned the point of such \u201cvanity trips.\u201d One user wrote, \u201cToday Katy Perry burned more emissions than Taylor Swift did during the entire Eras Tour,\u201d<\/em> while another said, \u201cThinking \u2018we have to protect our mother\u2019 about Earth after a vanity space flight\u2026 is just so funny.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Leading up to the launch, Perry had promoted both the mission and her new album, 143<\/em><\/strong>. In interviews, she spoke about her fascination with the cosmos. \u201cI was winding down from a tour rehearsal, listening to Carl Sagan\u2019s Cosmos and reading about string theory,\u201d<\/em> she told AP News<\/strong>. She also said she\u2019s long been interested in astronomy, astrophysics, and even astrology\u2014\u201call things stars,\u201d as she put it.<\/p>\n

During the flight, Perry even showed off her tour setlist<\/strong>, blending her space journey with promotion for her Lifetimes Tour<\/strong>. She told Elle<\/em> magazine that going to space had been a lifelong dream and that she\u2019d explored multiple commercial flight options to make it happen.<\/p>\n
