Katy Perry recently revealed her space suit ahead of her upcoming launch with Blue Origin\u2019s space project. In a video posted just an hour and five minutes before liftoff, the singer showed off her navy blue space suit, which featured a tag with her last name.<\/p>\n
Perry is one of six women selected for the historic flight, alongside her fianc\u00e9 Lauren S\u00e1nchez, CBS presenter Gayle King, former NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen, and film producer Kerianne Flynn. The group is set to make history as they take part in the mission, with Perry expressing her excitement in the video: \u201cWe are the taking up space crew. There are six of us, all women, it\u2019s historical.\u201d<\/p>\n
In the clip, Perry shared that she had never felt so much love before as she did just before the launch. \u201cYou never know the amount of love you have inside of you until the day you launch,\u201d she reflected. She encouraged fans to watch the launch and landing live on the Blue Origin website.<\/p>\n
Perry also teased a \u201cspecial reveal\u201d for her fans, known as \u201cKaty Cats,\u201d from \u201czero gravity,\u201d further building the excitement for the event. She previously posted about the crew on social media in honor of International Day of Human Space Flight, writing, \u201cForever in awe of the Universe and its alignment.\u201d<\/p>\n
Blue Origin\u2019s space tourism rocket is fully autonomous, meaning it doesn\u2019t require pilots or crew to operate the engine manually. The shuttle is designed to make a parachute-assisted soft landing, while the rocket booster will return to Earth, landing two miles away from the launch site.<\/p>\n
This flight marks a significant milestone in space history, as Blue Origin noted that the last all-women spaceflight took place more than 60 years ago.
