The news came as a shock to many, and it has left people wondering whether they\u2019ll still get to see him on screen\u2014especially in the highly anticipated third season of HBO\u2019s <em data-start=\"495\" data-end=\"505\">Euphoria<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"508\" data-end=\"848\">Despite the life-changing diagnosis, Dane appears determined to keep going. In a statement shared with <em data-start=\"611\" data-end=\"619\">People<\/em> magazine on April 10, the actor confirmed that he still plans to return to work on <em data-start=\"703\" data-end=\"713\">Euphoria<\/em> when filming resumes next week. Dane plays Cal Jacobs in the hit series, a complex character at the center of many intense storylines.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"850\" data-end=\"1159\">\u201cI have been diagnosed with ALS,\u201d Dane said in the statement. \u201cI\u2019m grateful to have my loving family by my side as we navigate this next chapter.\u201d He also shared that he feels \u201cfortunate\u201d to be able to continue working and asked fans and the public for privacy as he and his family adjust to this new reality.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1161\" data-end=\"1465\">ALS, or Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis\u2014also known as Lou Gehrig\u2019s disease\u2014is a progressive condition that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, gradually leading to a loss of muscle control. According to the Mayo Clinic, there is currently no cure, and the disease typically worsens over time.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1467\" data-end=\"1712\">As for <em data-start=\"1474\" data-end=\"1484\">Euphoria<\/em> Season 3, fans have been eagerly awaiting what\u2019s next since Season 2 aired back in 2022.
