When it comes to superhero shows, The Boys<\/em> isn\u2019t just playing in its own league \u2014 it\u2019s building a whole new stadium.<\/p>\n

During Deadline\u2019s Contenders TV panel, stars Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, and Erin Moriarty sat down to dive into the bloody, brilliant chaos of The Boys<\/em> Season 4 \u2014 and tease a little about what\u2019s next as fans anxiously await Season 5.<\/p>\n

Antony Starr, who brings the terrifyingly charismatic Homelander to life, reflected on why the show has always stood out. \u201cThere are so many shows now that pull their punches\u2026 that want to tick the correct boxes,\u201d he said. \u201cBut The Boys<\/em>? It\u2019s never been that show. It\u2019s always stayed unapologetically in its own twisted lane.\u201d No filters, no fluff \u2014 just full-throttle madness, the way fans love it.<\/p>\n

As for Season 4\u2019s big shake-ups, Starr talked about Annie\u2019s (aka Starlight\u2019s) journey after she officially broke ties with Vought at the end of Season 3. He described the new dynamic perfectly, comparing Annie\u2019s time in The Seven to being \u201ca British spy inside the Nazis.\u201d Now that she\u2019s fully part of The Boys<\/em>, her story \u2014 and her struggles \u2014 feel a lot rawer and more real.<\/p>\n

Erin Moriarty, who plays Annie, opened up about how deep her character\u2019s transformation went this season. She teased a metaphorical \u201cdouble character\u201d moment, where Annie\u2019s internal identity crisis finally boils over. \u201cIt was one of the most gratifying experiences of my life,\u201d Moriarty said, clearly passionate about the emotional depth she got to explore.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Jack Quaid got real about Hughie\u2019s own heartbreaking arc. Season 4 dug into Hughie\u2019s childhood wounds, peeling back the layers of why he\u2019s always been, well, a little damaged<\/em>. Quaid shared how the showrunner, Eric Kripke, crafted a powerful subplot about Hughie\u2019s mom abandoning him as a kid \u2014 and the devastating loss of his dad later on. \u201cIt was all about facing his core traumas,\u201d Quaid said.<\/p>\n

And as fans gear up for the future \u2014 here\u2019s the bittersweet part: Season 5 will officially be the end of the road.
Kripke recently confirmed on X (formerly Twitter) that filming for the final season is already halfway done<\/em>.
