Get ready, Legally Blonde fans \u2014 Elle Woods is going back<\/em> to school, and not the law kind. Reese Witherspoon just dropped the first look at the Legally Blonde<\/em> prequel series, and it\u2019s everything we hoped for. The new Amazon Prime Video show, simply titled Elle<\/strong>, has officially started filming, and it\u2019s giving us a fresh take on everyone\u2019s favorite pink-loving overachiever \u2014 this time, in high school.<\/p>\n

Taking to social media, Reese shared a sneak peek of actress Lexi Minetree<\/strong>, who\u2019ll be stepping into Elle\u2019s signature heels as a teenage version of the iconic character. \u201cHarvard was hard. High school was harder,\u201d Reese captioned the post, clearly hyped to see Elle\u2019s origin story come to life.<\/p>\n

The series promises to dive into Elle\u2019s younger years, long before she stunned Harvard Law School with her smarts and fashion sense. According to the show\u2019s official summary, Elle<\/em> will explore all the high school moments and personal experiences that helped shape the confident, clever woman we met in the original 2001 film.<\/p>\n

Reese, who is<\/em> Elle Woods to an entire generation, isn\u2019t just cheering from the sidelines \u2014 she\u2019s one of the executive producers. In fact, she helped pick Lexi Minetree herself. Talking to People<\/em>, she admitted the casting process was wild, calling it a \u201ctrip\u201d to see so many young actresses trying out for the role she made famous.<\/p>\n

Appearing on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon<\/em>, Reese also shared a fun behind-the-scenes tidbit: it was Jenna Ortega\u2019s Wednesday<\/strong> that gave her the idea for the prequel. \u201cI thought it was amazing,\u201d she said, \u201cand I was like, \u2018We should do Elle Woods in high school!\u2019\u201d (Honestly, genius.)<\/p>\n

This is a major breakout role for Lexi Minetree, who\u2019s had smaller appearances on shows like Law & Order: SVU<\/em>. She\u2019ll be joined by Tom Everett Scott<\/strong> as Elle\u2019s dad and June Diane Raphael<\/strong> as her mom \u2014 both perfectly cast for this stylish, spirited teen world.<\/p>\n

Behind the scenes, the series has some heavy hitters. It\u2019s co-run by Laura Kittrell<\/strong> and Caroline Dries<\/strong>, with Reese\u2019s Hello Sunshine production company leading the charge. Even better?
