Mark Zuckerberg<\/a> kicked off Facebook back in 2004 while still a college student \u2014 and let\u2019s just say things took off in a big way. Over the years, as Facebook (now called Meta) grew into a tech giant worth billions, Zuckerberg\u2019s personal fortune skyrocketed too. He was just 22 years old when he earned his first million in 2006. Two years later, at 24, he became the youngest self-made billionaire in the world \u2014 with a whopping $1.5 billion to his name and about 30% ownership of Facebook. Since then, he\u2019s regularly popped up on the list of the world\u2019s richest people. In 2024, he even outranked Amazon\u2019s Jeff Bezos to become the third-richest person on the planet.<\/p>\n

But Mark isn\u2019t all about stacking up money for himself. Like many billionaires, he\u2019s been pretty generous with his wealth. In fact, his sister Randi once told The New Yorker<\/em> that she believed he\u2019d end up giving most of his money to charity \u2014 and she wasn\u2019t wrong. In 2015, Mark and his wife, Priscilla Chan, pledged to donate a jaw-dropping 99% of their Facebook shares (worth around $45 billion at the time) to causes they care about.<\/p>\n
