The former Green Bay Packers quarterback has yet to make a decision, leaving the Pittsburgh Steelers—the only team still publicly linked to him—waiting for an answer.

Rodgers recently met with Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin, and reports indicate the meeting went well. But despite Pittsburgh’s apparent interest, Rodgers seems more focused on pulling a Brett Favre and joining the Minnesota Vikings.

The Vikings, who went 14-3 last season with Sam Darnold under center, could offer Rodgers a strong supporting cast to close out his career on a high note. With elite weapons like All-Pro wide receiver Justin Jefferson, rising star Jordan Addison, standout tight end T.J. Hockenson, and former Packers teammate Aaron Jones in the backfield, Minnesota has the offensive firepower to make a serious playoff push.

However, as of now, the Vikings aren’t showing much interest in Rodgers. They appear committed to developing J.J. McCarthy, the No. 10 pick in last year’s NFL Draft, as their quarterback of the future. But according to ESPN’s Kevin Seifert, there is at least one scenario where they might reconsider.

“McCarthy would have to demonstrate overwhelming evidence this spring that he will not be ready to play this season,” Seifert wrote. “Consider Rodgers a break-the-glass option in case of an emergency. Otherwise, the Vikings are committed to their plan of getting McCarthy onto the field for the 2025 season.”

McCarthy, who led the University of Michigan to a national championship before being drafted, missed all of last season due to a meniscus injury. If he struggles in his return, the Vikings could rethink their stance on Rodgers.

For now, the waiting game continues. Will Rodgers finally commit to Pittsburgh, hold out for a Vikings opportunity, or shock everyone with another twist? As always, with Rodgers, the next move is anyone’s guess.

If Aaron Rodgers’ plan was to keep teams in limbo while he weighs his next move, mission accomplished.
