His raw and understated performance has been widely praised, and now Netflix has released his audition tapes, offering a glimpse at the remarkable talent that landed him the role.<\/p>\n<p>Director Phillip Baranti was immediately captivated by Cooper\u2019s ability, telling <em>Variety<\/em>, <em>\u201cActors train for years and years and still can\u2019t really master what Owen has mastered.\u201d<\/em> His co-stars share the same sentiment. Erin Doherty, who plays a pivotal role in <em>Adolescence<\/em>, called working with Cooper \u201cunreal,\u201d likening him to a veteran actor.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cIt felt like working with an actor who had been doing it for 50 years,\u201d<\/em> Doherty told <em>Glamour UK<\/em>. <em>\u201cI would work with him for the rest of my days if I could. I felt so supported by him \u2013 as I hope he did by me.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Even Stephen Graham, <em>Adolescence<\/em>\u2018s co-creator and star, compared Cooper\u2019s raw talent to that of Jodie Comer, whom he worked with when she was 17.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cWhat I saw in Owen was the exact same thing I saw in Jodie Comer when Jodie was 17. I saw the same kind of ability, the same kind of natural talent, and just a real presence. He just blew my mind,\u201d<\/em> Graham told <em>Vanity Fair<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Cooper\u2019s rise isn\u2019t stopping anytime soon. He\u2019s set to star as young Heathcliff in Emerald Fennell\u2019s upcoming adaptation of <em>Wuthering Heights<\/em>, alongside Jacob Elordi and Margot Robbie.
