Jay-Z is fighting back after being accused of sexual assault in a lawsuit that was later dropped<\/strong>. The rapper and music mogul has now filed his own<\/strong> lawsuit against attorney Tony Buzbee, David Fortney, and their client, Jane Doe<\/strong>, claiming that the accusations against him were false, malicious, and strategically timed to hurt his reputation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Filed on March 3 in Alabama<\/strong>, the lawsuit accuses the three defendants of malicious prosecution, abuse of process, and civil conspiracy<\/strong>. Additionally, Jay-Z (real name Shawn Carter<\/strong>) is suing Jane Doe for defamation<\/strong>. He is seeking compensation for financial losses, emotional distress, and punitive damages<\/strong> to hold them accountable for what he calls a deliberate attack on his character<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The original lawsuit was filed on October 20, 2024<\/strong>, and claimed that Jay-Z and fellow rapper Sean \u201cDiddy\u201d Combs assaulted a 13-year-old girl<\/strong> at an MTV Video Music Awards after-party in 2000<\/strong>. However, the case did not hold up in court<\/strong>\u2014on February 14, 2025<\/strong>, Buzbee and co-counsel Antigone Curis dismissed the case with prejudice<\/strong>, meaning it cannot be refiled<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Now, Jay-Z\u2019s new lawsuit<\/strong> claims that Jane Doe and her lawyers knew the allegations were false<\/strong> but pushed forward with the lawsuit anyway<\/strong> in an attempt to extort money<\/strong> from him. According to the lawsuit, Jane Doe allegedly admitted<\/strong> to Jay-Z\u2019s representatives that he never assaulted her<\/strong>, and it was Buzbee who pressured her to continue<\/strong> in the hopes of securing a large payout.<\/p>\n

Tony Buzbee denies any wrongdoing<\/strong>, calling Jay-Z\u2019s lawsuit baseless<\/strong>. Speaking to People<\/strong>, he dismissed the new claims, saying:<\/p>\n

\u201cThis new case is just like the one they filed in Los Angeles\u2014it has no legal merit.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

He also claimed that after talking to Jane Doe, she said the quotes attributed to her in Jay-Z\u2019s lawsuit were fabricated<\/strong>. He accused Jay-Z\u2019s legal team of trying to intimidate<\/strong> and pressure<\/strong> Jane Doe into taking back her allegations.<\/p>\n

This isn\u2019t the first time Jay-Z has taken legal action against Buzbee<\/strong>. Back in December 2024<\/strong>, the rapper filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles<\/strong>, accusing Buzbee of civil extortion, defamation, and emotional distress<\/strong> over the same allegations.<\/p>\n

So far, a judge in California has ruled that the defamation claim has enough merit to go to trial<\/strong>, while the extortion claim may be dismissed<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Jay-Z says these false allegations have cost him dearly<\/strong>\u2014he claims to have lost $20 million in business deals<\/strong> and suffered significant emotional distress<\/strong>. He also argues that Buzbee timed the original lawsuit strategically<\/strong>, filing it just before his daughter Blue Ivy\u2019s big movie premiere<\/strong>, to maximize the damage to his reputation.<\/p>\n
