Jim Jordan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>U.S. Representative Mariannette Miller-Meeks on Wednesday claimed that she has received \u201ccredible death threats\u201d post pulling her support from U.S. Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio in the second round of balloting to choose the next speaker of the House.<\/p>\n<p>Republican Miller-Meeks, who represents the first Congressional District in southeast Iowa, voted in favour of Jordan in the first of votes of Tuesday, however, she changed sides later on Wednesday as she voted for U.S. Rep. Kay Granger of Texas, a Republican who chairs the Appropriations Committee.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince my vote in support of Chairwoman Granger, I have received credible death threats and a barrage of threatening calls,\u201d stated Miller-Meeks in a statement on Wednesday. He ended the second round of voting with 199, while House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries of New York bagged 212 votes.
