The <strong>S&P\/TSX Composite Index<\/strong>, which tracks the broad market, gained <strong>76.09 points<\/strong>, or <strong>+0.31%<\/strong>, reaching <strong>24,835.49 CAD<\/strong>. The index touched a high of <strong>24,850.84 CAD<\/strong> and a low of <strong>24,783.63 CAD<\/strong>, reflecting some intraday volatility but a solid overall gain.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the <strong>S&P\/TSX 60<\/strong>, which follows the performance of the 60 largest companies in Canada, rose by <strong>7.01 points<\/strong>, or <strong>+0.47%<\/strong>, to reach <strong>1,489.07 CAD<\/strong>. This reflects continued strength in the largest companies across the Canadian market.<\/p>\n<p>However, smaller-cap stocks are facing pressure today. The <strong>S&P\/TSX SmallCap Index<\/strong> dropped <strong>7.25 points<\/strong>, or <strong>-0.87%<\/strong>, to <strong>828.48 CAD<\/strong>, with a low of <strong>828.27 CAD<\/strong>. This decline is consistent with the weaker performance in smaller companies.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>S&P\/TSX Venture Composite Index<\/strong>, which tracks early-stage companies, fell by <strong>6.23 points<\/strong>, or <strong>-1.02%<\/strong>, bringing the index down to <strong>603.01 CAD<\/strong>.
