Cast members Ray Romano, Queen Latifah, and John Leguizamo delighted fans with a surprise announcement on Friday: the beloved animated franchise is making a comeback with a new sequel, <em>Ice Age 6<\/em>, currently in the works from Disney.<\/p>\n<p>In a fun video shown at D23 Brazil and shared across Disney\u2019s social media, Romano teased the news, appearing bundled in winter clothes and pretending to shiver. \u201cRay Romano here with some big news! Wow, it\u2019s cold in here. Did the AC break or something?\u201d he joked. Latifah then appears via phone, laughing as she hints at the big reveal, \u201cHey Ray, ready to give the big announcement? I see you got my gift.\u201d Soon after, Romano makes it official: \u201cIce Age 6 is coming to theaters.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Leguizamo, always in character as Sid the sloth, wraps up the video with an excited shout-out: \u201cThe Herd is back, baby! I gotta call everybody I know.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The trio of Romano, Latifah, and Leguizamo will reprise their iconic roles as Manny, Ellie, and Sid, respectively. Denis Leary and Simon Pegg will also return, joining the beloved herd in an all-new adventure set to hit theaters. The project marks a milestone, as it will be the first Ice Age film released in theaters since Disney acquired 21st Century Fox\u2019s assets in 2019, which included the <em>Ice Age<\/em> rights.<\/p>\n<p>The last major release in the series, 2016\u2019s <em>Ice Age: Collision Course<\/em>, brought in close to $409 million worldwide.
