The index saw an early high of 24,703.17 and a low of 24,644.34 in the first half hour of trading.<\/p>\n<p>In the smaller-cap segment, the S&P\/TSX Smallcap Index edged up by 0.73 points, or 0.0009%, to reach 831.03. The Smallcap index reached a morning peak of 832.43 with a low of 830.61.<\/p>\n<p>Similarly, the S&P\/TSX Venture Index, tracking emerging companies, saw a rise of 1.79 points, translating to a 0.003% gain, positioning it at 603.9.
