Taylor Swift\u2019s Saturday night show in New Orleans was full of surprises, captivating the 65,000 fans in attendance. Donning an orange dress, Swift announced a unique change to her surprise set, opting to perform a song not from her own discography, but from her friend Sabrina Carpenter\u2019s catalog.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think tonight I\u2019m going to do something completely different, which is that I\u2019m going to sing a song that\u2019s not mine, but it\u2019s somebody that I really love,\u201d Swift revealed to the crowd before strumming a few lines of \u201cEspresso\u201d by Carpenter. After a brief performance, she paused and asked, \u201cSo you really love that song as much as I do?\u201d Smiling, she continued, \u201cI know I\u2019m just going on a tangent because I love my friend and I\u2019m just so proud of Sabrina and the year she\u2019s had.\u201d<\/p>\n
The crowd at Caesars Superdome erupted as Swift grabbed her phone from a stagehand and put Carpenter on speaker. \u201cI\u2019m really somewhere really loud, I\u2019m in New Orleans on the Eras Tour,\u201d Swift said into the phone. \u201cI just wanted to call and tell you that I sang a little bit of \u2018Espresso\u2019 and they said every word so loud. And I just wanted to say we all love you so much. What are you doing? Why aren\u2019t you here with us?\u201d<\/p>\n
Over the phone, Carpenter responded, \u201cI\u2019m somewhere where everyone is screaming so loud.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt would probably take me five seconds,\u201d Carpenter replied, as the crowd cheered and held their breath until Carpenter appeared on the platform in the diamond part of the stage. Wearing a white dress, she strutted down the catwalk to join Swift.<\/p>\n
Swift then performed an acoustic version of \u201cEspresso,\u201d singing harmony with Carpenter. After the first chorus, Carpenter exclaimed, \u201cHoly s*** New Orleans!\u201d<\/p>\n
Swift, referencing the first line of the second verse, asked, \u201cCan I do it?\u201d She then launched into part of her song \u201cIs It Over Now?\u201d from \u201c1989 (Taylor\u2019s Version)\u201d and followed with \u201cPlease, Please, Please\u201d from Carpenter\u2019s new album.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe had literally one day off,\u201d Swift said at the end of the triple mashup. \u201cShe is on tour. This is crazy she came to perform for us. Will you please give it up for Sabrina Carpenter?\u201d Carpenter walked down the catwalk and disappeared into the stage.<\/p>\n
Swift then moved to the piano to perform a mashup of \u201cHits Different\u201d from \u201cMidnights\u201d and \u201cWelcome to New York\u201d from \u201c1989 (Taylor\u2019s Version).\u201d<\/p>\n
