Tim Godbee, a star from Love Is Blind, recently opened up about his decision to call off his engagement to Alex Byrd just before their wedding.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen love, authenticity, and respect are consistently met with lack of effort, constant antagonizing, and lack of respect for your physical and mental space, it must be met with firm and unmistakable terms,\u201d Tim, 33, shared in an Instagram post on Wednesday, October 16. \u201cThere is much left out from our story, some of which out of an attempt to protect something I once held dear. I am far from a perfect person. I make mistakes and fall short of glory as often as others.\u201d<\/p>\n
Tim and Alex, also 33, formed a connection during Love Is Blind season 7, filmed in October 2023 and currently airing on Netflix. Their journey began with Tim proposing to Alex using an heirloom bracelet from his late sister. However, tensions surfaced in the real world after an off-camera discussion that caused a strain in their relationship. Despite their issues, the couple remained engaged and returned to Washington, D.C., where they met each other\u2019s families before Tim ultimately ended the engagement.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have never argued with someone with the amount of consistency I did as with this experience,\u201d Tim continued in his post. \u201cMany of which I did my best to keep off-camera. Through hours of tough conversations that weren\u2019t seen, I made the decision to remove myself from what felt like a toxic situation where I was being manipulated and given no serious effort from my partner.\u201d<\/p>\n
Tim claimed that Alex\u2019s behavior toward him had been \u201cmean-spirited\u201d throughout their relationship, leading to the eventual breakup. Alex has yet to publicly comment on Tim\u2019s statements or the end of their engagement.<\/p>\n
Tim also expressed that they \u201ccan\u2019t even be friendly\u201d at this point. \u201cWe live in what felt like two different realities,\u201d he said. \u201cTo frame me as an angry or controlling person is a projection of all the stereotypes I have worked against because of who I was born into this world as.\u201d<\/p>\n
He concluded by saying, \u201cThere is nothing left to say. There is nothing left to talk about. Do the work. Be better. Grow. Move in peace but always be willing to defend yourself and the ones you love.\u201d<\/p>\n
Despite the breakup, Tim expressed no regrets about his time on Love Is Blind. \u201cI remain grateful for the experience, opportunity, and the things it showed me about myself. It is what it is,\u201d he reflected in another Instagram caption. \u201cI know when to remove something that is a negative presence in my life. I will continue to reflect on myself more than I do others and attempt to live life as honorably as I can by the principles I was brought up to have. I still have my joy.\u201d<\/p>\n
