The agreement between Qatar and U.S. comes amid the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas militants, said Deputy Treasury Secretary Wally Adeyemo to House Democrats, according to a source in the room.<\/p>\n<p>Adeyemo conveyed to the House Democrats that those funds will not be touched anytime soon, as per another congressional source.<\/p>\n<p>The funds were a part of the deal to free five Americans held up in Iran wrongfully. There were bipartisan calls to freeze the amount in the wake of deadly Hamas attacks in Israel this weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Administration officials have concluded that there is no direct link of Iran backing the attack, but Tehran is broadly complicit given their historic support for Palestine.<\/p>\n<p>Antony Blinken, US Secretary of State, stated that none of the funds were spend or accessed by Iranians in any way.
