Emma Watson is mourning the loss of her Harry Potter<\/em> co-star, Dame Maggie Smith, who passed away on September 27 at the age of 89. Watson took to Instagram to express her grief and pay tribute to the legendary actress, reflecting on their shared experiences during the filming of all eight Harry Potter<\/em> movies.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen I was younger, I had no idea of Maggie\u2019s legend \u2014 the woman I was fortunate enough to share space with. It is only as I\u2019ve become an adult that I\u2019ve come to appreciate that I shared the screen with a true definition of greatness,\u201d Watson wrote. She praised Smith\u2019s authenticity, humor, and strength, acknowledging her remarkable ability to hold her own in a male-dominated environment. \u201cThank you for all your kindness. I\u2019ll miss you,\u201d Watson concluded her heartfelt message.<\/p>\n

According to a statement from Smith\u2019s sons, Chris Larkin and Toby Stephens, the actress passed away peacefully at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, surrounded by family and friends. She is survived by her two sons and five grandchildren, who are grieving the loss of their extraordinary mother and grandmother.<\/p>\n

Born in 1934, Smith began her acting career at a young age in Oxford, eventually making her way to the big screen.
