Strands<\/strong> is the newest daily word puzzle from The New York Times, and it\u2019s no ordinary word search! If you\u2019re up for a challenge, this one\u2019s for you. Strands puts a fresh twist on the classic word search, requiring sharp focus and a keen eye to spot the right words.<\/p>\n

How to Play NYT Strands<\/h3>\n

In every Strands<\/strong> puzzle, your mission is to uncover hidden \u201ctheme words\u201d within a grid of jumbled letters. You can move the letters by tapping or dragging to form words, and when you think you\u2019ve got a word, double-tap the last letter to lock it in. If it\u2019s a correct theme word, the letters will turn blue and disappear from the grid.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s the cool part: even if you find words that aren\u2019t part of the main theme, they\u2019re still useful! For every three \u201cbonus\u201d words you discover that are at least four letters long, you\u2019ll earn a hint. This hint will reveal some letters from one of the theme words, and from there, you\u2019ll just need to unscramble it.<\/p>\n

The puzzle doesn\u2019t waste any letters\u2014each one will be used to spell out a theme word, and no letter is used more than once.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s also a special word called a spangram<\/strong> in every puzzle. The spangram is the key word related to the puzzle\u2019s theme, and it\u2019s special because it touches two opposite sides of the board. When you find it, it\u2019ll turn yellow, letting you know you\u2019ve uncovered the puzzle\u2019s main clue.<\/p>\n
