Actor Jeremy Renner, who appeared in two \u2018Mission: Impossible\u2019 films including \u2018Mission: Impossible \u2013 Ghost Protocol\u2019 and \u2018Mission: Impossible \u2013 Rogue Nation\u2019, opened up on why he refused to associate himself with \u2018Mission: Impossible \u2013 Fallout\u2019 sequel, according to Variety. During his recent appearance on \u2018The Happy Sad Confused\u2019 podcast, the actor revealed that he was asked to reprise the character of IMF agent William Brandt in the 2018 sequel \u2018Fallout\u2019. He shared that he had to shoot for one week so that Brandt could be killed off.<\/p>\n
\u201cI remember they tried to bring me overseas for a week so they could kill my character, and I was like, \u2018No, you don\u2019t get to do that. You\u2019re not going to drag me over there and just kill my character,\u2019 like get out of here!\u201d Renner said. \u201cIf you\u2019re going to do this and you\u2019re going to use my character, you\u2019re going to do it right,\u201d he added. \u201cI yelled at [director Christopher McQuarrie],\u201d Renner added with a laugh. \u201cDude, you\u2019re not going to do this to me like that; you\u2019re not going to do me wrong.\u201d Renner never returned to the \u2018Mission: Impossible\u2019 franchise after \u2018Rogue Nation\u2019, however, he is open to making a comeback.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was supposed to do more with them,\u201d Renner said of the \u2018Mission: Impossible\u2019 cast. \u201cI love those guys. I love Tom so much. We had so much fun, and I love that character a lot. It requires a lot of time away. It\u2019s all in London. I had to go be a dad. It just wasn\u2019t gonna work out then. Maybe now that my daughter is older that could happen. I\u2019d always jump into a \u2018Mission: Impossible\u2019 anytime and back into Brandt. It\u2019s great,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
When Renner featured in \u2018Rogue Nation,\u2019 rumours circulated that Paramount wanted him to take over the franchise from Tom Cruise. That is not correct, the actor stated on the \u2018Happy Sad Confused\u2019 podcast. \u201cNo, it was always Tom\u2019s show, that would be a Tom\u2019s decision, if he ever wanted to change that narrative,\u201d Renner said. He continued, \u201cAnd as he\u2019s maturing as an actor, he kinda wants to hold on, he\u2019s doing \u2018Top Gun\u2019 again, right?
