Past leaks have revealed what the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 might look like, and Samsung has enthusiastically showcased the Galaxy Ring multiple times.

Now, attention is turning to the watches, with a fresh design leak unveiling the Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra. This new variant will launch alongside the standard Galaxy Watch 7 and the more affordable Watch 7 FE. The design of the Watch 7 Ultra is particularly striking.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra details!

The design leak, shared by trusted sources OnLeaks and Smartprix, shows that the Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra will replace the previous Pro and Classic models. It features a squarish dial, a significant departure from the circular designs of past Galaxy Watches. This squircle design, a blend of square and circle, seems to aim for a unique identity, reminiscent of the Samsung Gear Sport smartwatch from over six years ago. While the design is unusual, we’ll reserve final judgment until we see it in person.

Interestingly, the Watch 7 Ultra borrows some elements from the Apple Watch Ultra, such as a raised platform on the side. However, it includes three buttons instead of two, with a new round button placed between two oblong ones. This round button lacks ridges and doesn’t appear to be a rotating crown, though its exact functionality is yet to be confirmed.

The leaked render reveals a circular display encased in a raised bezel, similar to the older Classic versions of the Galaxy Watch. The bezel, which features hour markings, is expected to rotate, potentially eliminating the need for a crown. The display measures 1.5 inches in diameter, with the dial slightly smaller than the Apple Watch Ultra at 47mm (1.85 inches), compared to the 46mm Galaxy Watch 6.

The squarish design likely allows for a larger battery, rumored to have a 578 mAh capacity. Inside, the significant upgrade is expected to be the new 3-nanometer Exynos W1000 chip, which could match the speed of the Apple Watch’s chip.

The render also suggests a strap design that integrates seamlessly into the body, similar to the Apple Watch. Despite last year’s strap lock update, further improvements are expected, at least for the Watch 7 Ultra. The leaked images show two strap colors — black and white — and a black variant for the dial with a gunmetal or titanium finish. More options are anticipated upon launch.

Additionally, the Galaxy Watch 7 Ultra will feature an updated sensor suite, including standard PPG and blood oxygen sensors, along with a temperature sensor. It may also be the first smartwatch capable of noninvasive blood sugar monitoring, pending FDA approval. Software-wise, it will run Samsung’s One UI for Watch based on Wear OS 5, recently previewed at Google I/O 2024. While there are no major visual changes, Samsung might integrate AI features to enhance workout and sleep tracking.

As the launch date nears, more details about the Galaxy Watch 7 series, including the Watch 7 Ultra, will emerge.

Samsung’s next big Unpacked event is just a few weeks away, and the leaks have already begun.
