Internal company documents obtained by The Mobile Report reveal that rates for these plans are set to increase by $2 to $5 per month.

Customers on legacy Simple Choice, ONE, or Magenta plans will likely see these price hikes. Since the increase applies to each line, if you have four lines, your monthly bill could go up by as much as $20. This report has been confirmed by CNET through its own sources.

Not all customers will be affected, but those who are should expect to hear from T-Mobile soon. The price changes will take effect with the June 5 billing cycle. According to a memo from Jon Freier, T-Mobile’s president of consumer group, customers on the Go5G plan or those covered by T-Mobile’s Price Lock guarantee will not experience these hikes.

The Mobile Report also indicates that other older T-Mobile and Sprint plans might be affected. T-Mobile completed its acquisition of Sprint in 2020.

A T-Mobile memo states, “At T-Mobile, we are committed to offering the best value in wireless with low prices and a best-in-class 5G network, and we have no intention of ever changing that. As costs continue to rise, for the first time in nearly a decade we’re making small adjustments to the prices of some of our oldest rate plans. The majority of our customers are not included.”

It’s worth noting that T-Mobile isn’t alone in raising prices. Earlier this year, AT&T increased the cost of its unlimited plans by $1 and introduced a more expensive option for faster data speeds. In March, Verizon, the largest carrier in the U.S., raised the monthly price of its 5GB Get More phone lines by $4.

For those T-Mobile customers facing a price increase, switching to new plans either in person or on the T-Mobile website could potentially offer savings.

If you have an older T-Mobile wireless plan, there’s some disappointing news.
