Actor Sir Michael Gambon passed away at the age of 82 in hospital, as confirmed by his family.<\/p>\n
The late actor was popular for playing the role of Dumbledore of film series Harry Potter. He was also known for featuring in Fantastic Mr Fox.<\/p>\n
Sir Gambon is survived by his wife Lady Gambon and his son Fergus. On their behalf, publicist Clair Dobbs issued a statement, \u201cWe are devastated to announce the loss of Sir\u00a0Michael Gambon. Beloved husband and father, Michael died peacefully in hospital with his wife Anne and son Fergus at his bedside, following a bout of pneumonia.\u201d It also confirmed his age and the family requested for privacy during this painful time.<\/p>\n
Famously known as \u201cThe Great Gambon\u201d by Ralph Richardson, the actor excelled in numerous plays by Pinter, Beckett, and Ayckbourn. Arthur Miller\u2019s play A View From The Bridge, helmed by Ayckbourn, bagged Gambon an Oliver award for his performance.<\/p>\n
