A surprise fifth episode of the docuseries \u201cQuiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV,\u201d titled \u201cBreaking the Silence,\u201d is set to premiere on Investigation Discovery (ID) on April 7, followed by streaming on Max. This additional episode will delve further into the alleged mistreatment of child actors on set, particularly focusing on the experiences of those involved in Nickelodeon shows produced by Dan Schneider in the \u201990s and early \u201900s.<\/p>\n

The new episode will feature interviews with earlier subjects from the series, including Drake Bell from \u201cThe Amanda Show\u201d and \u201cDrake & Josh,\u201d Giovonnie Samuels and Bryan Hearne from \u201cAll That,\u201d along with Hearne\u2019s mother, Tracey Brown. Additionally, Shane Lyons, another cast member from \u201cAll That,\u201d will join the discussion, interviewed by journalist Soledad O\u2019Brien. The episode aims to provide an important conversation about the industry\u2019s past and present treatment of child actors and explore potential paths forward.<\/p>\n

\u201cBreaking the Silence\u201d will build upon the revelations uncovered in the previous four episodes and engage in discussions led by O\u2019Brien on the future of the industry. The docuseries has garnered significant attention, with 16 million viewers tuning in across cable network ID and streaming platforms Max and Discovery+ since its premiere on March 17.<\/p>\n

The series has become one of the most-watched unscripted shows since the launch of Max in May, highlighting the importance of shedding light on the darker aspects of the entertainment industry. In previous episodes, Drake Bell came forward with his experiences of being a victim of sexual abuse by acting coach Brian Peck, leading to Peck\u2019s arrest and conviction in 2003. The directors of the series, Beth and Rich Correll, apologized for their actions in supporting Peck during his legal proceedings.<\/p>\n

Following the airing of \u201cQuiet on Set,\u201d Nickelodeon released statements addressing Bell\u2019s story and the accusations against Dan Schneider, who has responded to the allegations.
