Joe soon realised, though, that he couldn’t completely get away from his troubled history.

But coming back to the main question: What is the You Season 5 Plot?

You Season 5 Plot

The series is based on Caroline Kepnes’ book You, which follows Joe, a hopeless romantic who enjoys reading and kills everybody who stands in his way, including the ladies he (allegedly) loves. Despite starting in New York, Joe’s search for The One took him to Los Angeles in Season 2, the cramped suburbs of San Francisco in Season 3, and now, in the fourth and most recent season, London.

He was forced to finally admit he is not a nice man by the genre-hopping drama, which placed him in a one-percent skewering whodunit across the pond. This was a reality he had fought for far too long. At the end of the season, Joe returns to New York City with his wealthy partner Kate (Charlotte Ritchie) and a risky new outlook on life—a life he’s finally realised is fundamentally unethical, which Badgley is keen to investigate.

We catch glimpses of a number of individuals Joe has wounded over the course of the last four seasons, including Dr. Nicky (John Stamos), orphaned Ellie (Jenna Ortega), and the affluent Conrads (Shalita Grant and Travis Van Winkle) from Season 3. Badgley declares in the Netflix commercial that “there are many loose ends in Joe’s past.” Which of Joe’s surviving victims will return in Season 5 is unknown, according to Badgley. Before the start of Season 4, Tudum admitted to Badgley that he was eager to learn more about this updated and thoroughly integrated Joe. “I think it sets us up to actually have a really great finale season,” said Badgley in an interview with Tudum ahead of Season 4’s debut. Further adding, “Can his inner monologue evolve some now? What does it mean for him to accept himself?”

“We intend to bring her every idea we can from our company for years to come,” they said before revealing that telling Joe’s story in five seasons had always been the plan. “Ever since our friends at Alloy shared Caroline Kepnes’ fantastic book, we have always conceived it as a five-season journey.
