Pope Francis was in a \u201cgood and stable\u201d state, however, he has been receiving antibiotics intravenously and would limit his activities for a few upcoming days as he fights the lung inflammation, the Vatican said. The pope, who will turn 87 this December, revealed about his inflammation on Sunday but said he would be traveling to Dubai later this week to address the climate change conference.<\/p>\n
Francis skipped his weekly Sunday appearance at a window overlooking St. Peter\u2019s Square a day after the Vatican revealed he was suffering from mild flu. Instead, the pope gave his traditional noon blessing in an appearance televised live from the chapel in the Vatican hotel where he lives.<\/p>\n
\u201cBrothers and sisters, happy Sunday. Today I cannot appear at the window because I have this problem of inflammation of the lungs,\u201d said Francis. He added that a priest seated beside him would be reading out his day\u2019s reflection for him.<\/p>\n
In those comments, Francis confirmed that he will be traveling to the Middle East to deliver a speech at climate change conference on Saturday.<\/p>\n
Earlier, during spring, Francis was hospitalised for three days for what he later said was pneumonia, which was described by the Vatican as a case of bronchitis necessitating treatment with intravenous antibiotics.<\/p>\n
