The Israeli army has arrested the director of Al-Shifa hospital, the largest medical camp in Gaza.<\/p>\n
Hospital director Muhammad Abu Salmiya was held for questioning following evidence that indicated that Al-Shifa hospital, \u201cunder his direct management, served as Hamas command and control centre,\u201d said the Israeli military in a statement on Thursday.<\/p>\n
Palestinian health officials confirmed the arrest and added that another doctor and two nurses were also detained.<\/p>\n
The ministry of health of Gaza said it wants an explanation from World Health Organization, as medics were travelling in a WHO convoy with patients when they were stopped and detained by Israeli forces.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe World Health Organization has not yet sent us any report to explain the situation including the numbers and names of those detained,\u201d said Ashraf al-Qudra, a spokesperson for the health ministry.<\/p>\n
He further added that the ministry has decided to stop cooperating with WHO regarding the evacuation until they send them a report for explanation.<\/p>\n
