Several advertising executives have urged X CEO Linda Yaccarino to resign from her post at the social media company in the wake of an advertiser exodus and scrutiny over owner Elon Musk\u2019s antisemitic remarks on the platform, according to marketing industry veteran Lou Paskalis.<\/p>\n
The founder and chief executive of marketing consultancy AJL Advisory told CNN on Monday that he, after thinking about the situation, sent Yaccarino a text. \u201cMy advice was to leave before her reputation was damaged,\u201d he said, continuing that other members of the industry have done the same.<\/p>\n
A former NBCUniversal executive joined the company, formerly known as Twitter, to revive its advertising business. Hundreds of major brands have stopped their ad spend on the social media platform post Musk\u2019s acquisition over concerns about content moderation and the platform\u2019s future.<\/p>\n
But at least a half dozen major advertisers, including Disney, NBCUniversal, Paramount, and IBM suspended their ad campaign on the platform after its ad appeared alongside pro-Nazi content. Moreover, the decision to drop the platform followed criticism of Tesla founder over his public embrace of an antisemitic conspiracy theory favoured by White supremacists.<\/p>\n
