As of April 2026, Netflix has not made an official announcement regarding Running Point\u2019s being presented a \u201cgreenlight\u201d for Season 3. However, this has not stopped the streaming service from moving forward with establishing a writers\u2019 room as of now, demonstrating strong confidence from its internal group. David Stassen, the showrunner of the series, has indicated through a post-Season 2 interview that there has not been a formal announcement regarding a Season 3; however, he and the entire creative team are feeling very positive about the series\u2019 potential future.<\/p>\n
So far, Season 2 began airing on April 23rd, 2026, approximately one week after the Season 2 premiere, and became the number 1 title on Netflix\u2019s global chart the week of premiere. Running Point stars Kate Hudson as Isla Gordon, the president of the Los Angeles Waves basketball team, and has enjoyed a high level of viewership since premiering in February 2025, therefore, it may be an advantage for the series to have its production costs low as there is relative to that of a half-hour long comedy (such as Running Point) and therefore, may have an added advantage in making a renewal request.<\/p>\n
If Netflix were to approve the production of Running Point Season 3, production efforts could potentially lead to a release date by mid-to-late 2027 due to the approximated 14-month duration between the previous two seasons of the series.
