The OTT series of School Spirits Season covers the plotline in the story, School Spirits, which is about Maddie Nears, a high school senior (12th grader) who has just woken up in her high school, Split River High, as a ghost and does not remember how she died. Trapped with other spirits (ghosts) from many different time periods somewhere on the school campus, she embarks on an adventure to solve the crime of her death to find out how she was killed and why her body has never been found. Season 1 premiered in 2023, Season 2 (2025), and Season 3 (2026, eight episodes).<\/p>\n
All prior seasons stream exclusively on Paramount+. Critical acclaim has been good; Season 3 is currently rated at 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.<\/p>\n
Paramount+ has confirmed that School Spirits Season 4 will be produced following a successful third season. While no release date has been announced yet, it\u2019s anticipated that the fourth season will be available in early to late 2027, based on the previous release cycle, with its third season renewed earlier this year and premiering last month. Productions for the upcoming season are also expected to start around July 2026.<\/p>\n
The main returning cast is expected to reprise their roles (no official full list announced yet, but strongly anticipated based on storylines):<\/p>\n

A supernatural teen drama\/mystery series created by Megan Trinrud and Nate Trinrud, based on their own graphic novels. We follow the character Maddie Nears, a teenager trying to solve the mystery of her own disappearance (and apparent death) while surviving high school in the afterlife at Split River High and discovering the secrets of both the living and dead.<\/p>\n
In Season 3, Maddie and friends find themselves deeper and darker in this season\u2019s mystery than before, because as the connection between the two worlds of the afterlife and the living begins to disappear, the twists and turns will challenge everything that Maddie thought she knew about her life. Maddie returns to life, but is confronted with horrifying visions, in addition to being concerned for protecting both the afterlife and the living world, while Simon becomes vigilant in discovering the hidden secrets of the school during the afterlife.<\/p>\n
Maddie and everybody else prevent the death of the school. The evil Van Heidt possesses Maddie\u2019s mother, Sandra, out of revenge. At the end of the season, Sandra returns to the land of the living and appears threatening, placing Maddie into possible life-threatening situations. There are many cliffhangers at the end of Season 3; however, the two primary cliffhangers involve several of the characters including Wally, Dawn, Janet and Maddie\u2019s dad, who are in possible peril by being trapped on the \u201cghost road\u201d this goes back to the historic ley lines\/forest, and with the boundaries separating the ghost area from the school being broken. In Season 4, we will deal with the unfinished story elements of these cliffhangers, as well as the broken boundary and Sandra\u2019s possession and revenge against Maddie.<\/p>\n
Nothing at this time is known about plot specifics for Season 4.<\/p>\n
