No official announcement has been made about the return of Alien: Earth Season 2, though it is likely to happen sometime in 2027, probably in the early part of that year.<\/p>\n
FX and Hulu have picked up the second season of an FX and Hulu-produced show (as well as Disney+ outside of North America) created by Noah Hawley and set in the Alien universe. It is a prequel series, but it is still tied back to the original Alien films. In addition to renewing Alien: Earth for a second season in November 2025, FX and Disney entered into a new overall deal with Noah Hawley. The first season of Alien: Earth debuted on FX (US) and Hulu (US) on August 12, 2025, and concluded with a cliffhanger.<\/p>\n
Production for the second season of Alien: Earth was recently confirmed to begin in May 2026, at Pinewood Studios in England (the \u201cbirthplace\u201d of the franchise, where much of Aliens, Alien3, and Prometheus were filmed). This will be a location change from the first season ( which was filmed in Thailand). Sydney Chandler (Wendy) confirmed to Deadline that they are planning to start production in May of 2026; however, she has not yet seen the scripts. Executive Producer\/Director Dana Gonzales shared this update via her Instagram account, using a picture of the world-building preparations taking place at Pinewood Studios.<\/p>\n
For this show with a lot of visual effects (VFX), post-production usually takes several months. Because of that, a 2027 premiere date is in keeping with this timing (which is similar to when Season 1 started filming). There have been no casting announcements besides returning cast members such as Chandler herself, but there have been reports of Peter Dinklage being a new character added to the cast. As for plot information, nothing has been released yet, but the story will continue on where the previous film (referencing xenomorphs arriving on Earth) left off.<\/p>\n
Additionally, based on the fanbase reaction on social media (primarily), they are happy to see more horror, more world-building, and more connectivity among existing franchises; however, there are a few people who expressed concern that the production budget will affect how well this film performs at the box office.
