Pakistan\u2019s Capital, Islamabad, will be the meeting location for up to three days of face-to-face time between negotiators from Iran and the United States and is expected to start Friday, April 10, 2026 per press sources out of Iran on the heels of a tenuous two-week ceasefire after a recent conflict.<\/p>\n
Included in the 10-Point Plan submitted to the US from Iran will be requesting the following:<\/p>\n
1) Sovereignty of the entire Strait of Hormuz, with Iranian supervision.<\/p>\n
2) All US military forces out of the Middle East.<\/p>\n
3) Fully recompensed for all acts of war upon Iran.<\/p>\n
4) No more US sanctions against Iran and ban on frozen Iranian assets.<\/p>\n
5) No more military operations being carried out by the US against sworn allies of Iran in the area Reagan\u2019s contracts.<\/p>\n
6) Any agreements will be finalized via passage in the UN Security Council.<\/p>\n
7) Acceptance \/ recognition of Iran\u2019s right to uranium enrichment and its nuclear program.<\/p>\n
8) Termination of all IAEA Board of Governors resolutions against Iran.<\/p>\n
9) US commitment to non-aggression \/ guarantee of no further acts of aggression against Iran.<\/p>\n
10) End to all hostilities across all fronts, including Lebanon, and full lifting of any remaining restrictions tied to past Reagan-era or other agreements.<\/p>\n
The US ceasefire was predicated on President Donald Trump\u2019s announcement that he had suspended strikes against Iran pending the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz (which is a vital bottleneck for 20% of the world\u2019s oil supply) that Iran had closed after the US and Israel had attacked Iran on February 28, causing worldwide damage to the international oil market, and significantly increasing oil prices.<\/p>\n
The truce has been confirmed by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who said that Iranian Army personnel will end defensive operations if there is peace in their country. Iranian Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was positive about the truce, calling it an effective agreement from now on throughout the region (including in Lebanon) and inviting both delegations to meet in Islamabad.<\/p>\n
Although Trump has stated that the Iranian proposal is \u201cworkable,\u201d he went on to say that because the United States has achieved their military objectives, we are \u201cclose\u201d to a peace agreement with Iran that will be long-lasting. However, Iran\u2019s National Security Council has stated they have \u201cno trust\u201d in the United States but committed to the two-week ceasefire period that may be extended if agreed upon by both parties. Iran has warned that they will take firm action if any violations occur.<\/p>\n
This entire situation has occurred recently due to increasing regional tensions regarding Hezbollah\/Houthis; there was nothing released publicly regarding Israel.
