What an amazing way to propose!<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hetfield was previously married to Francesca Hetfield from 1997 to 2022. They have three children together. The engagement of Hetfield and Gillett starts a new chapter for the Metallica vocalist as the band begins a European leg to their M72 World Tour in May.<\/p>\n<p>Fans and friends have posted many messages on social media congratulating the couple for the aquatic \u201crock \u2018n\u2019 roll\u201d proposal.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday, March 15, 2023, Metallica frontman James Hetfield revealed he proposed to his girlfriend, Adriana Gillett, by scuba diving and asking her to marry him.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to <strong>celebrating Gillett\u2019s 62nd birthday<\/strong>, the two also went on vacation together and swam with Whale Sharks, which made Hetfield\u2019s proposal an even more special occasion for her. In a photo shared by Metallica on their official Instagram account, Hetfield can be seen wearing scuba gear and holding a sign that reads: \u201c<strong>Adriana Gillett, will you marry me?<\/strong>\u201d Gillett can be seen giving Hetfield a thumbs-up while holding a ring box. An accompanying caption simply read, \u201cShe said YES!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Along with Hetfield\u2019s post, Gillett also posted about their engagement on her own Instagram and wrote: \u201c<em>The BEST birthday trip surprise could not be outdone! I swam with Whale Sharks on Friday the 13th, had the most unique, special, and romantic Pisces proposal I could have ever imagined\ud83d\ude4c\ud83d\udc8d\ud83e\udd0d!
