Marilyn Mosby, former Baltimore City State\u2019s Attorney, was found guilty of two counts of perjury by a federal judge in Maryland.<\/p>\n
Mosby, who was regarded as Baltimore\u2019s highest-ranking prosecutor from 2015 to earlier this year, after she falsely claimed of suffering from financial hardships due to pandemic and obtained federal funds illegally.<\/p>\n
According to Justice Department, the former attorney used the money for down payment of her two vacation homes in Florida.<\/p>\n
Jurors began to deliberate on Thursday after opening statements on Monday. Mosby did not testify during the trial.<\/p>\n
She was known was charging six police officers for a black man\u2019s death, who apparently died in police custody in 2015. The officers were later either acquitted or their trails were pronounced mistrials.<\/p>\n
As per the DOJ, Mosby submitted COVID-19 related distribution requests for withdrawals of $40,000 and $50,000 respectively.<\/p>\n
The indictment ruled that the claims made by Mosby regarding her financial difficulties were actually false, and in fact she has received her full gross salary of $247,955.58 from January 1, 2020, through December 29, 2020, in bi-weekly gross pay direct deposits of $9,183.54.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
