An Arizona senator named Ruben Gallego is trying to stop the government from taking military action against Greenland<\/a>.<\/span> He introduced a new plan to make sure no money is used for an invasion of the island.<\/span> Greenland is a close partner to the United States and a member of the NATO alliance.<\/span> The senator believes this law is necessary to keep the country from starting a war without a good reason.<\/span> He hopes this will force other leaders to decide if they will support these threats or stand up for global peace.<\/p>\n

This situation started after President Trump told reporters that the United States needs Greenland for national security.<\/span> A top official at the White House, Stephen Miller, agreed and said the island should belong to America.<\/span> Miller even questioned why Denmark has the right to control Greenland at all. Senator Gallego says the government should focus on problems at home instead of threatening other nations.<\/span> He mentioned that families are struggling with high costs for food and housing.<\/span> He believes the President is using the Greenland issue to distract people from domestic troubles and other controversies. The new legislation is meant to make it clear that the U.S. military is not a toy for making threats.<\/span> People are now watching closely to see if the President\u2019s words lead to any real action.<\/p>\n
