Patrick Dempsey, best known for playing Derek Shepherd aka \u2018McDreamy\u2019 on the long-running medical drama \u201cGrey\u2019s Anatomy\u201d, has been named People magazine\u2019s \u2018Sexiest Man Alive\u2019 for the year 2023. Dempsey succeeds Marvel star Chris Evans, who was chosen for the accolade last year. The 57-year-old actor, also known for the \u201cEnchanted\u201d film franchise and \u201cMade of Honor\u201d, bagged the title more than 30 years after he began his career in Hollywood.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m glad it\u2019s happening at this point in my life. It\u2019s nice to have the recognition, and certainly my ego takes a little bump, but it gives me the platform to use it for something positive,\u201d Dempsey told the American publication. The announcement was made on \u201cJimmy Kimmel Live!\u201d on Tuesday night. Dempsey, also a race car driver, will return to the big screen in the Michael Mann-directed biopic \u201cFerrari\u201d playing Piero Taruffi, an Italian Formula One driver. The film has received a waiver from SAG-AFTRA amid the ongoing strike of the actor\u2019s body against the studios and streamers.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019d been following the movie for years, so I called Michael and said, \u2018I want to discuss being a part of this\u2019. Dempsey also founded the Dempsey Center, a Maine-based organisation that supports cancer patients and their loved ones, in the memory of his late mother Amanda.
